VETERANS

BENEFITS

Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act of 2008

(Chapter 33)

Those veterans and/or civilians who received training by the armed forces must provide the College with a copy of the discharge form DD214 as evidence of this training. Other documentation such as a certificate or diploma will be accepted as proof of satisfactory completion of training. This documentation should be presented to the Director of Admissions and Records at the beginning of the student’s first semester at VBC.

While VBC has been approved as an eligible institution for veterans and other eligible persons who wish to use their veteran’s educational benefits, those in a non-program status are not entitled to receive such benefits.

Tuition

Students using Chapter 33 need to be aware of their eligibility.  Students who are less than 100% eligible must pay the outstanding portion of the tuition bill when bills are due.

Textbooks

The books and supplies stipend will be sent directly to the student. The student may need to purchase books before this payment arrives. The stipend is to offset the cost of the books; it is not meant to be a reimbursement or voucher.

Housing Allowance: Online

Housing is based on 50% of the national average of all Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). Active duty personnel and spouses of active duty personnel using Transfer of Entitlement (ToE) benefits are not eligible for the Housing Allowance. However, dependents are eligible.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill Housing Allowance is paid to students whose rate of pursuit is greater than half-time, or more specifically, greater than 50%.

Contact the Veteran’s Administration at 888-442-4551 for more information on your housing allowance and book stipend.
