I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 10 years old. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I even asked for a blackboard for Christmas when I was seven and made my sisters sit through many reading and history lessons! I started teaching in vacation bible school as a teen; and, after graduating from college, I began teaching in a Christian school. Over the last 35 years, I have taught in Christian and public schools. I’ve taught history, elementary (5th grade is my favorite!), and remedial reading and math. I also spent 10 years working as a program director and training specialist for the military in the Child, Youth, and School Services programs. As a training specialist, I realized that I enjoy coaching and supporting adult learners. Through my experiences, I can see how God has directed my steps and prepared me to support and teach teachers. My husband, Jim, and I have three sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, five grandsons, and two granddaughters. They keep us busy! Besides playing with my grandchildren, I enjoy reading, teaching my 4th grade girls’ Sunday School class, and playing the piano.
